My name is Julia Khrakovsky, and I am Roman M. Mazur’s niece. It is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic news of my uncle Roman’s passing. On October 21, 2024, while returning from his morning jog in Buffalo Grove, IL, Roman was struck by a vehicle and sadly lost his life at the scene.

Roman was truly a larger-than-life figure whose passion for dance and creativity inspired countless individuals. He began his remarkable journey over 60 years ago in Kiev, Ukraine, where he founded the ensemble “A Flight Over Kiev.” After immigrating to the United States, he established Mazurdance in Chicago and later opened a studio in Cleveland, OH, where he served as the artistic director in both locations. His dedication to the art of dance was evident in every performance, as he created not just dance routines but theatrical experience that captivated audiences.

Roman is remembered as a visionary choreographer and a producer, known for his unique approach to dance, composition, and costume design. Every move, every breath, and every dance was filled with purpose and passion. He brought together children and adults who shared a love for dance, creating a welcoming space for all to express themselves. His contributions to the community were immense, as he supported numerous events and fundraisers, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

As we navigate this difficult time, we are seeking your support to help cover the funeral expenses for Roman.
