Help Cover Healthcare at Mayo Clinic

Hi friends and family, if you know me then you know I've always suffered from chronic illness. This year, I have been struggling to manage a particularly difficult case of vasculitis. This has been a years-long process for me, but health has deteriorated significantly this year and I think I am reaching a very critical point in my journey. Despite visiting the best and brightest physicians in Louisiana, I left my doctors scratching their heads. At the end of August, I was granted a referral to the Mayo Clinic, which will be a huge step in finding my final diagnosis.

Unfortunately, earlier in October, my sweet husband Adam was laid off from what we thought was a very secure job, with no notice whatsoever. I was on his health insurance, which is now going to be terminated tomorrow, October 31st. I have been scrambling to get on my own plan through the same employer so that I have time to get my Mayo Clinic visit approved again. Assuming I am able to get it approved the same way I did the first time, I'll have a brand new deductible to meet-- just in time for the deductible to reset AGAIN in January, which I'll swiftly meet. My measly librarian's salary is almost entirely eaten up by the new health insurance premiums I have had to take on and I can't save money for these impending deductibles, not to mention the copays that I know await me at Mayo Clinic. None of this even includes the cost of travel to Minnesota, or our hotel stay.

We have run the numbers and it's going to be a really tight couple of months for us. It really couldn't be worse timing for such a shake up in our lives-- this visit to Mayo is too huge to pass up, and we need to make it happen. I hate to ask for help like this, but knowing we can cover my impending health insurance costs would help me immensely. I know we will be back on our feet soon, but I really appreciate anyone's help in the meantime.
