Help Cover Jean Ayers' Funeral Expenses

On July 29, 2024 my mom, Jean Ayers, was in an accident. While she was driving she had a heart attack. She drove into someones yard hitting two trees. When EMS arrived, she had no pulse or heartbeat. EMS workers performed CPR and she was intubated. She was taken to Corning hospital where they tried everything to stabilize her, but eventually she was life flighted to Robert Packer hospital in Sayre.

I got a ride to Robert Packer hospital where I learned that my mom was in critical condition and the outlook was grim. The doctor explained that my mom had not only had a heart attack but she had fractured her neck and they needed to do an MRI to determine if her brain stem was still attached to her spinal column. By this point CPR had been performed 3 times. The staff attempted an MRI but moms heart couldn't take it. Her heart rate continued to fall. She was on maximum levels of 3 different medicines that could barely keep her heart beating. The head of neurology came. She had no reflexes, no corneal response, and no brain activity. She was in a severe coma and most likely paralyzed from the neck down. She could not protect her airway. The staff at Robert Packer tried everything they could, but moms injuries were too much. There was zero chance of recovery. The medicines were causing her organs to fail and her heart had too much damage not to mention everything else.

On July 30th my dad and I made the hardest decision of our lives. Comfort care was provided and mom passed away immediately after the intubation tube and medicines were stopped while we held her and told her how much we loved her.

Unfortunately mom did not have life insurance. Her wishes were to be cremated.
