This is my wonderful Mom, Jill. I've been living with her for a little more than a year now and acting as her caregiver during that time. It was nice to be able to care for her as she did for me my entire life.

On September 13th, 2024, I left work and called my Mom to see if she needed anything from the store. She didn't answer my call. I went to the store and called her when I left the store. Again, she didn't answer my call. When I arrived home at 1:30 pm, the apartment was dark, her door was open, and I yelled for her. I set the bags down on the floor, immediately looked to my right, and saw her lying on the floor with her head resting against the cupboard. Hysterically, I yelled, "Mom," over and over again. I ran over to her, and she was not breathing and was cold to the touch. I called 911, and they arrived and told me she had passed. For the next 3 hours, the police tried to console me. My Mom is everything to me! She was there for me always, and when she needed me most, I wasn't there. Seeing my Mom lying there lifeless was the world crashing down on me and by far the worst day of my life.

As if that wasn't enough, the medical examiner finished and asked me who was going to come pick up her body. In total disbelief and shock, I had to figure that out now as well. I found a nice funeral home close by that came over right away. A couple of hours later, I went to the funeral home and was again confronted with the reality of all this. During the meeting at the funeral home, we covered options and, of course, cost. I'm sitting there wondering how life is going to go on without her, and all we are talking about is how to pay for this and pay for that. I know I have no money, I know she had no money, and yet everything is happening so fast. I am having her cremated on Monday, September 16th, 2024. I am also meeting with her church on that same day to try and finalize the service. I am doing this to try and cover the cost of her cremation and service. I'm sorry to even ask, and anyone who knows me will tell you I never ask for help. I've accepted help if I need it when offered, but this is a first for me to have no choice but to ask. I appreciate anyone who can assist, and please go to the link to read more about my beautiful Mom. Thank you.
