Help Cover JJ’s Funeral & Medical Expenses

On January 8, 2024 Kat & Josh’s lives were changed forever when they welcomed Joshua Michael Lupoli Jr (JJ) into the world. After being born, JJ was quickly swept away to the NICU for what turned out to be a 3 week stay to help his breathing. Kat & Josh were overjoyed to finally bring JJ home, but he returned to the hospital shortly after due to feeding concerns and aspiration pneumonia. It was then that Kat & Josh began their journey of advocacy for JJ and working tirelessly to get a diagnosis for what was causing his troubles.
Their world was shattered when they received their answer. The doctors informed Kat & Josh that JJ was born with an extremely rare genetic condition called Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation (PIGA-CDG). JJ’s case was one of only 100 documented cases in the world.
Despite his diagnosis, JJ fought long and hard for almost 5 months. He endured various tests, surgery, and spent a period of his short time here intubated. JJ loved spending time with his family and held a special place in all of the hospital staff’s hearts. He had his mom’s attitude (her words not mine!) and the cutest baby mullet- an ode to his dad’s love for heavy metal.
Ultimately, JJ passed peacefully in his sleep at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center on May 17th. Kat has had to take a leave of absence from her career as a 6th grade school teacher in order to care for JJ for the past 4 and a half months. This has left Josh working long days, often picking up multiple side jobs in addition to his full time job in order to provide for their family. We would love to raise money for funeral expenses and medical bills to help the Lupolis through this unimaginable grief.
