Help Cover Medical Costs for Migraine Surgery

A lot of people have been asking about donating to my parents after my mom had nerve decompression surgery for her migraines on April 18th. Initially, my parents were going to figure out a way to pay all the medical bills on their own due to insurance denying the surgery and not covering any of the costs. With many people wanting to support them, my sister and I have had conversations with them and convinced them to swallow their pride to allow those who want to support them during this time be able to do so. For those of you who know my parents know that they work so hard and will always be the first people to help someone out when needed. They are strong, selfless people who never expect anything in return. However, my mom has suffered from chronic migraines for the last 22 years. Over the last 3 years, these migraines have gotten progressively worse and have been completely debilitating for her. She has been having migraines at least 5 out of 7 days a week. When she has a migraine, it is impossible for her to do absolutely anything other than lay on the couch trying to deal with the pain and waiting for it to pass. She has missed out on so much over the last few years due to these migraines including missing work multiple times a week, missing out on time with family, friends, church, and other obligations. She has missed out on so many family events and has to always cancel plans due to these migraines occurring so frequently.

Over the years, my mom has seen 10 different neurologists from different areas. She has tried 68 different medications & treatments with absolutely no relief from her migraines and no true answers on what causes them. Over the last three years, the neurologists she has seen have recommended this nerve decompression surgery, that it would be the only thing left for her to try. After suffering for so long, my mom decided she had to go through with this surgery if she wanted any sort of relief and to hopefully get her life back. Over the past few months, insurance has denied her of this surgery three times. Her doctors have continued doing appeals, having conferences with them, and providing her extensive history of suffering from these migraines and insurance continues to deny it. This had pushed her initial surgery date back. She continues to provide everything insurance asks for and they continue to deny and delay the process. This last month my mom has nearly had a migraine every single day and couldn’t put off this surgery any longer. With that being said, my parents will have to pay all the expenses related to this surgery, which has been a big unexpected expense thrown their way. My mom will also be out of work for a few weeks as she recovers. Any donations and prayers are very much appreciated as my mom continues to recover from this surgery. We hope this surgery takes away her migraines and will finally give her her life back.
