Help cover medical expenses for Jim Weaver

Hi, my name is Nicole Weaver and I’m helping my parents to raise money for my dad’s medical expenses and travel for my mom to be with him.

Jim Weaver is a kind, generous, hardworking, loving father and husband. Some may know him as “Delicious Jim” from the McDonalds on Dugan road. He has a bright and loud personality and can make anyone laugh.

On December 8, 2023, Jim went to work like any other day. Once getting to work, he began feeling short of breath and EMS was called. Once arriving to the hospital, he was unresponsive and his CO2 levels were at 150. Shortly after, he went into cardiac arrest, had CPR performed, and was intubated. Imaging showed he had an infarct at C2-C4, likely due to a spinal stroke. When he woke, he had flaccid paralysis from his neck down. He spent the first few weeks in the hospital intubated and sedated while doctors and nurses worked vigorously to stabilize him, eventually getting a trach due to difficulty weaning from the ventilator.

On December 24, he began to have very small movements in his hands and feet, which left us very hopeful for his recovery.

On December 28, he was moved to Select Specialty Rehab where they continued to monitor his condition and further stabilize him. While there, he was able to make some progress. He began to have more purposeful movements in his arms and legs, however still very weak and limited. He was able to begin using a speaking valve which allowed him to begin to take sips of water and begin eating instead of having all nutrition through a PEG tube. While at select, we had to make several appeals to insurance due to denials and will likely have some expenses not covered by insurance due to that. On March 15th, insurance ended reimbursement for his stay at Select.

On March 19, he was transported to Countryside Estate in Warner, OK, the closest facility that will work on ventilator weaning.

We are hopeful that this move is what will be in his best interest and will help him to get off the ventilator and come home. The facility is 3 and a half hours from our home and requires us to stay at hotels while visiting. Currently, my mom has cut back her working hours to 3 days a week to spend the rest of the week with my dad. We are asking for financial assistance to help cover the cost of my mom’s weekly travel to the facility and to help cover any medical bills we receive for my dad.
