Help Cover Medical Expenses for my Brother Jojo

Hi, my name is Annette, and I am fundraising for my nieces Jenalyn (28) and Grace (27) to cover their father Jojo's medical bills.

 

Jojo was admitted to Ciudad Zamboanga Medical Hospital on March 22 of this year with extreme difficulty breathing and only 30% oxygen in his body.

After some tests, the doctors could factor out Covid-19 as the reason for his condition; after more tests, they found that he's had a hole in his heart since his childhood, and that the mitral valve was damaged, causing fluids in his lungs.

During the following procedures, his heart stopped for 20 minutes, and the health care professionals were ready to declare the time of his death when his heart rate came back.

He hasn't fully gained consciousness since, and while the doctors involved couldn't all agree that he might or might not come back, there have been signs that he is fighting hard and is not ready to give up yet. One example is that, after his daughters took the advice of many doctors and agreed to get him off his medication, Jojo actually got better and his vitals stabilized.

 

 

This fundraiser supports my nieces cover the medical bills accumulating over the last many weeks. The hospital bill for their father is 1,069,178.04PHP, which is just under $26,000CAD. While Jojo is stable enough to be released from the hospital, he will need care at home, which for now will be an ongoing expense. Jenalyn has been using up her savings and most of her income to cover the medical costs.

Jenalyn is currently living and working in Oslo on a work visa that is running out, an

d she just applied for her Norwegian Permanent Residency. Until her father's hospitalization, it was all looking very promising, but the overwhelming and ongoing expenses are worrisome as her financial status will be considered during the application process. Additionally, it has become very challenging for her to have enough to cover her living expenses.

 

Jenalyn has reached out in the hopes of financial support. Unfortunately, I couldn't contribute as much as I wanted since I am currently using up savings for my own medical leave from work. Other family members have given as much as they could as well. However, our contribution is barely scratching the surface.

 

To take some of the burdens off Jenalyn's shoulder is why I am turning to crowdfunding, hopeful that several people will be able to donate whatever amount they can. Anything helps. I set the current goal to $26,000, 

fully aware that it is unlikely to reach this amount. Please still consider giving.
