Help Cowboy Heal After Tragic Attack
Donation protected
Hello Friends and Family,
Something terrible has happened. On Thursday, November 21st, my aunt let out her three small dogs to go potty in the backyard. After just a few minutes, she heard a commotion and ran outside. What she saw broke her heart. Two large German Shepherd dogs had jumped over my aunt’s fence and into her backyard. By the time she made it outside, they were retreating. Two of her babies, Bailey and Roxie, small terriers, had been killed. A third, Cowboy, a toy poodle, was staggering toward her. She rushed Cowboy to the vet where he was said to be in critical condition. They performed surgery on him and attached drainage tubes to help his little body heal. He has been in the animal hospital since then. The first two days were looking very grim. Cowboy wasn’t eating or standing up on his own. He ran a fever off and on. It has been very difficult on his little 14 year-old body and, no doubt, on his mind, too. He lost his siblings and, nearly his own life, in such a quick and tragic way. By some miracle, this little old man is fighting and is making progress. He started eating again yesterday and it looks like he will be able to go home this afternoon after getting the tubes removed.
Between the cremation services for Bailey and Roxie and the obscene cost at the vet for Cowboy, my aunt has rung up a nearly $7,000 bill. As much as we love our babies, anyone would have a very difficult time paying this amount of money unexpectedly. My aunt and her wife are grieving deeply over the loss of Bailey and Roxie and they are exhausted with worry over Cowboy. If we can relieve some stress over the medical expenses that have accumulated, it would greatly help them breathe easier and allow them to focus on Cowboy’s recovery.
The owners of the dogs that attacked are unknown so there is no money coming from them. Please donate anything you can. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
