Welcome to Katy's Cat Cafe, a unique community hub where you can sip organically sourced coffee, tea, and curated mocktails, and eat locally sourced ice cream and pastries. Snuggle up with adoptable cats while reading a book or playing board games with friends.

We will promote local businesses such as creameries, bakeries, animal shelters, and more. Being a woman-owned business and a passionate start-up, Katy’s will nurture other passionate, women-owned businesses and individuals. Our emerald green, dark academia theme will transport customers to a sophisticated and intimate setting, perfect for relaxation and socialization.

WHAT IS A CAT CAFE?

A novel experience for cafe goers and animal lovers.

For a once per entrance admissions fee, spend as much time as you would like in the cafe and lounge area. We will not have a time limit per admission as many cat cafes do. Work remotely and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and stay until the evening to meet with friends and enjoy a board game. Or bring your family for a couple of hours.

Reserve our lounge for birthday parties, baby showers, company events, and more.

Become a member and enjoy free admissions, half priced reservations, and half priced drinks.

Locals who want a cat but cannot adopt due to allergies, housing policies against pets, or lack of time can come in and enjoy the company of cats without commitment.

Locals who want a cat but need an inviting space to interact with cats can find their perfect match at our cat cafe instead of a shelter or pet store.

A unique destination for tourists and ideal study spot. Our organically sourced curated menu offers a variety craft drinks. Katy's will support other small businesses by sourcing our ice cream and pastries locally.

More support is provided to local businesses and individuals looking for a scene to make their debut. Small artists, fashion designers, musicians, writers, filmographers, podcasters, and more can reserve time to introduce their work to the community.

Charities can also host workshops and informationals to gain support. It is important that my cafe helps others pursue their passion in the way that the community has helped me with mine.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

We meet all animal-care regulations as well as all food and beverage regulations.

All spills and unwanted food and beverage will be cleaned up by staff immediately. Lounge area will be swept for fur twice daily and when necessary.

Cats are not allowed behind the bar where food and beverages are stored.

Food and beverages will be served in closed disposable containers. For environmental conservation purposes, when a purchase of a reusable cup or tumbler is made at our store, it will be filled at original price. That means a larger size beverage at no additional cost.

Our two door system keeps cats in. A waiver must be signed at admission. It is important to respect the cats' boundaries; any failure to do so is the responsibility of the customer, not the cat or the cafe.

Cats are free to roam in and out of the lounge. The behind-the-scenes area is where cats can go to eat, relieve themselves, or take a break. All cats will be examined, vaccinated, and treated before release into lounge.

OUR PARTNER

Satchel’s Last Resort is a no kill rescue for cats and dogs. They are so happy to have help rehabbing and rehoming cats in the area. They have 65 cat surrenders in need of new homes and counting so this cafe is in high demand to foster these cats.

Katys Cat Cafe also has its first business promotion and will be hosting charity events for the Working Cat Program that keeps cats away from euthanasia by providing them with shelter and a job.

A portion of your donation and of profits will go to Katy’s Charity, solely dedicated to helping cats in the community.

I am committed to this project. A successful kickstarter will allow the cat cafe to house cats and kittens in need as quickly as possible. FUNDING BREAKDOWN

The funds raised through this Kickstarter will go towards cat and cafe equipment. Specifically, this includes the double doors that will keep the cats safely inside, furniture and decor, a coffee bar, toys and essentials for the cats, and a hard-working HVAC system to keep the air clean. This Kickstarter goal only covers a small portion of funding. These are the necessities for the grand opening of the cafe, so it is essential that this goal is met or is exceeded. Reaching or exceeding this goal is vital in creating the best place possible for cats and the community! I am investing every dollar into this project. While this goal only covers a portion of funding, I am passionate about making Katy's Cat Cafe a success and will pursue it with tenacity.

MEET THE OWNER

My name is Marian Morcos and I am a woman in business. My rise was as a woman in STEM. I graduated from CUBoulder (Sko Buffs) with a degree in ChemBio engineering and have minors in biomed, management, and entrepreneurship.

Instead, I want to make an impact on my community. I decided to follow my passion for helping cats and my community thrive. I want to meet people, listen to their needs, and help them create a space they want to spend time in. I also want to help cats in the same way that cats have helped me.

My first cat, Katy, is the namesake of the cafe. I adopted Katy at 4 months when I was just 10 years old. She is now 16 years old. I have spent more of my life with her than without her, and I can’t imagine growing up without her. 

My best friend and I then rescued our 2 year old cat, Willow, on new year’s day. Her crooked tail is a reminder of how cruel the world can be to these loving creatures.

My background in engineering, complemented by a passion for management and entrepreneurship, sets the stage for streamlined operations and efficient management. My journey is fueled by tenacity, attention to detail, and a knack for creative problem-solving. I am committed to establishing a thriving and innovative cat cafe that not only enriches the lives of Sarasota's residents and visitors but also leaves a positive impact on the community. Katy's Cat Cafe will foster animal welfare and promote community amongst local small businesses. My business is not just a reflection of my personal dreams; it's a welcoming haven where others can discover and pursue their own aspirations.
