Help Crooked River Roundup Queen Mary's Horse Dixie Recover!
Donation protected
The Crooked River Roundup Queen has been a quintessential part of the rodeo scene in Prineville, Oregon for a very long time. Their 2024 queen, Mary Olney, is a staple in the rodeo circuit in the Pacific Northwest. She has represented many rodeos all across Oregon and has done it with class, grace and extreme poise. At the final performance of the Crooked River Roundup on Saturday June 22nd Mary's equine partner "Dixie" went down with her during Mary's queen run-in. Mary's first instinct was Dixie's well being. She carefully led Dixie out of the arena to give her all the attention a good horsewoman should give her horse. A group of volunteers surrounded Dixie and Mary. With careful consideration, Dixie was rushed an hour away to Bend to a 24 hour equine animal hospital. An ultrasound discovered a partially torn tendon in her front leg. Queen Dixie will retire her crown for now, living her best life alongside Mary at home. The rodeo community is a tight one and we are asking to support Mary as Dixie's recovery is going to be an expensive one.
