Help Crying Weasel Vintage Go Mobile!

Hello! I'm Alex Flanders, and I own Crying Weasel Vintage-- a vintage clothing boutique in Little Rock, Ark. I quit my job and started selling vintage clothing full-time in April 2017. I would pop up at local businesses, farmer's markets, and any street festival I could work my way into. Getting out, meeting, and dressing people in the community has always been my favorite part of my job. The joy of helping someone express themself through clothing is sincerely unmatched.

When I opened my brick-and-mortar shop three years ago in October of 2019, I always thought of it as my “starter shop,” much like newlyweds (of yore, obviously,) have their “starter homes.” My goal has always been to expand my business by acquiring a mobile boutique. For years, I have dreamt of a shop on wheels that would enable me to go to the masses, travel the country, source, and sell sustainable clothing.

As I approach my third storefront anniversary, that dream still seems as far away as it did when I opened. Covid, and now inflation has been a bump in my road to expansion, but I’ve decided to go ahead and try it anyway.

So, I am asking for your help.

Here’s the plan: I am going to buy a school bus and, you guessed it, convert it into the most excellent mobile shop this side of the Mississippi. I already have big plans for it: festivals, collaborative pop-ups, street fairs, and the open road! Your help purchasing the bus and some building materials will set me up for success as I navigate and document a total renovation. You best believe there will be a learning curve— but I am lucky to have some cool crafty carpenter types in my circle.

I'll keep my current shop open during the building process and hopefully be able to maintain both locations after renovations.

I feel like I have stars in my eyes when I picture it because I can already see y’all shopping and enjoying the space. I can see you popping out of the dressing room (my favorite part of any shop or pop-up I’ve done) to excitedly give a fashion show of what you’ve found. I can see the built-in racks and shelves inside, the pop-out awning and the astroturf of the outdoor ~chill zone~.

I am excited about this venture; it’s also as scary as when I decided to take the leap into selling vintage full-time all those years ago, and I hope you’ll support me just like you did back then.
