Help Kevin during his cancer battle

The following story is written by his eldest Daughter

Hi, my name is Elisabeth and I would like to share my dads story, in hope of further support from his community in this difficult time of need.

Sadly in January this year my Dad was diagnosed with stage 3 BCC, although BCC is a common and most successfully treated cancer, a BCC reaching stage 3 is rare.

Already having 3 surgeries, this has prevented the opportunity to work and financially support his household for his life partner and my younger brother, already having to resort to selling his pride and joy (car) to ensure a roof over their head.

The cancer now has migrated to his bone, local lymph node, muscles and tendon.

After already having 3 surgeries a specialist reconstructive cancer surgeon will try to successfully remove the remaining cancer cells, this requires a reconstruction adding to a very long recovery time and rehab, resulting in the chance he may never be able to run again.

This being the best possible result for my Dad,

it saddens me as I spent my life watching my Dad give his time volunteering for the community, officiating 1000s of rugby league games in Brisbane over 15 years then another 8 between Bundaberg, South Burnett and the Illawarra.

Putting his hand up to coach any team or developing rugby league referees,

I can remember the phone ringing and Dad saying, come on kids we have to go cover this game or all the players, parents and spectators miss out. He continually put his hand up, never saying no, always putting his community before himself.

I am in hope that the gesture can be returned and we can find some help for my Dad in his time of need.
