Help Dad Rebuild Life After Losing His Leg

Donation protected
Dear friends and family, I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and an urgent request for help. My father was recently involved in a serious car accident. On the 29th of September, 2024, a pickup truck in the alley of our apartment complex backed up into my dad's truck while he was sitting on the bed of his truck resting after unloading some items in the garage and crushed his leg. The guy took around 15 seconds to even realize he hit him, and his leg was in between both bumpers. Cops and paramedics arrived, and my dad was taken to the hospital. They tried to perform surgery to open up some arteries that were blocked due to the impact, but there was nothing they could do to save his leg. He had to get his leg amputated, or the blood clots could have traveled all the way up to his heart. My dad is currently 58 and will no longer be able to work another day of his life or perform any of his reselling activities, not even pick up his grandkids from school or go watch them and train them on how to play soccer. Although we would love for him to retire and enjoy his grandkids, this was not the way we wanted that to happen. I am his only daughter and the only person he has to rely on since my mom passed away 4 years ago from COVID. I feel like after all those years of taking care of me, my mom, and my kids, he deserves to live the rest of his life in peace without having to worry about bills or any financial problems. Unfortunately, he wasn’t born here, so he does not qualify for many benefits or is eligible to receive social security. I’m asking for a little help to keep him comfortable and to cover his medical expenses since he is going to stay at the hospital for a couple of days and receive surgery, plus rehab and a prosthetic leg later on. My husband and I will take care of any other bills and necessities he might have later on, plus take care of him at home. Anything helps, and if you’re not in a position to help, we’d appreciate a prayer and a share of this GoFundMe to reach people that are kind and are in a position to help. I appreciate each and every single person that contributes to my dad’s well-being in any way. God bless.

A little backstory: I currently live with him, my kids, and my husband. My dad has always been my greatest support before my husband arrived in my life, and even then, he has never stopped helping me with my kids and with the bills. We live in a 2-bedroom apartment. We’re not wealthy people, but we work hard to make sure our kids have everything they need. My dad has been working throwing newspapers for the last 25 years with no days off, working 7 days a week every night. He also resells a lot of items, including furniture and stuff he finds free in the rich neighborhood areas. He’s always been a hardworking man and is beloved by a lot of people in our community. He helps feed my kids, picks them up from school while I work, and spoils them as much as he can. He’s the sweetest and most caring person ever and helps a lot of people in need and always has something to offer. Unfortunately, he will no longer be able to perform his daily activities or help with any bills any longer due to someone else’s mistake.
