Help Daisy and George Rebuild After Devastating Fire

This is my sister's home. On November 18, 2024, her home in the neighborhood of Seminole Heights, Tampa, Florida, burned down. The damage is extensive, and they have lost all their belongings in the fire. Daisy and George have made this neighborhood their home for many years, where they have lovingly rescued abandoned dogs and cats, doing their best to give them a quality life for their remaining years. They were at the vet caring for their 20-year-old Terrier, Cookie, who sadly, after a long battle with health issues, had to be laid to rest. That’s when she received a call from the neighbor that her house was on fire. By the time she arrived, the fire department was at work putting the house fire out and caring for the animals. The cats were in the back of the house and all came out unscathed, but Lilly, the dog, was in the living room where the fire started. She was found unconscious by the kitchen door and given oxygen by the firemen and resuscitated. Lilly suffered some burns and significant smoke inhalation and was later taken to the vet. She is being kept in an oxygen chamber, but doctors don’t know if she will make it as she is having trouble breathing.

To make matters worse, Daisy and George don’t have home insurance. Over the last few years, the cost of insurance in Florida has skyrocketed, and if you are not a high-income earner, you are forced to make a difficult choice and go without it. George and Daisy have regular jobs and live a modest life with little to no savings. The vet bills are already at $7,000 and rising, and the cost to rebuild and replace things is going to be significant, probably well over $150K. We would appreciate any support you can give Daisy and George to help with these bills and to rebuild their home.
