Help Dakota Dixon’s family with funeral expenses

Hi, my name is Trudy, or mom mom to Dakota. Dakota will be 7 on September 26th! On Wednesday, September 13, 2023 my grandson, Dakota Dixon went to the ER in York after 10 days of complaining about a headache and occasionally vomiting. My daughter, Alicia, noticed a very slight droop to the left side of his face and she made an appointment at his pediatrician for the next day. However, the next day Dakota went to school and got sick again. This time, Alicia just felt there was something more going on so she canceled the pediatrician and went straight to York hospital. They took him immediately when she mentioned why they were there and after Dakota threw up again right there. After a CT scan it was determined he would be transported to Hershey Children’s Hospital because they found a large mass on his brain.

On Thursday he had an MRI that determined a tennis sized tumor on the right upper brain. Right now, all we know is that it’s fast growing and they will try to remove as much as possible on Wednesday of this coming week. Because of where it’s located, there is risk of left side paralysis. We will not know anything until the surgeon gets in there and pathology tests the tumor. The future treatment is uncertain at this time because it will depend on how much they can get out and what pathology results are. Right now, it will be at least a 2 week stay in Hershey. During this time, mommy and daddy are on leave from their jobs and having to cover the cost of food and lost wages. We don’t know what medical expenses may be incurred at this time so we’re hoping to help with lost wages right now.

If any of you know Alicia or Nick, you know that Dakota and Hayley are their world!! This has been extremely difficult, as you can imagine! If you can’t help financially, we totally understand. Prayer is more important than anything else right now so the Dixons would appreciate that!!
