Help Damien "Galo" Through His Battle with Cancer

Dear friends,

I am reaching out today with a heavy heart to ask for your support for our dear friend, Damien "Galo".

In October this year having been suffering some shoulder and back pain Galo went for what he thought was a routine scan. On October 22nd while heading through the airport for their long awaited family holiday he received a phone call that would quite literally turn their lives upside down. It was his GP Doctor Kiernan and he was informing them the results were back and they were not good - of course Galo having already checked through the bags asked could they deal with it in a week after the holiday ended but Dr Kiernan said to present to the hospital straight away.

Over the next short while after some additional tests Galo received a devastating and unexpected diagnosis— at just aged 51 he was told he had stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer, also in his lungs, liver and bone.

Anyone who knows Galo will know how much he is dedicated to his wife, Karen, and is such loving father to their three children: Saoirse, Mia, and Cian. He is known to his friends for his outgoing love of life, meeting socially for hikes and walks in the country and still finding time for gigs and festivals or comedy nights all done in the company of the love of his life Karen.

Over the last number of years Galo who initially started out as a bricklayer had went back to College and reinvented himself as a very successful social care worker. He is very passionate about this work and was literally living the life of a model citizen until this shocking diagnosis came around. He still has so much life to live we want to help him in any way we can.

Unfortunately, the burden of this illness means he cannot work and this is now taking a toll. The mounting bills, treatment costs, and daily expenses will become overwhelming for Galo and his family. This is where we can all make a difference. Your donations—whether large or small—will help provide crucial support for Galo and his family as they navigate this incredibly difficult journey.

While the prognosis is extremely serious we still hold hope for Galo and pray he can stay with us - we wanted to create this go fund me as something that can help Galo with any day to day costs while he is not working but also to make some funds available to seek any additional healing or treatments that may be available. While still following his oncologists advice he is already seeking out various alternative methods and we dont want financial difficulty to become a barrier to seeking out ways to stay alive and be with his family for longer.

Every contribution will go directly toward Galo's expenses, treatments, and ensuring that Galo and his loved ones can focus on what matters most—fighting this battle with the strength and support they need.

We are launching this Gofundme in the hope of raising €20k which we hope can help his battle in some way.
