Let’s Help Damon Cook

One of our own sushi chefs needs our help. Most of you should know Damon Cook, and how courageously funny he is. Damon, Charlotte and their two kids (4 and 5 years old) have recently moved back to Austin.
Charlotte had a stroke last Saturday.
Damon was working while this happened. She was taken to the emergency room by an ambulance and was diagnosed very quickly. The doctors have run some tests in the last few days. They found that the cause of the stroke was a tiny hole in her heart. After talking to Damon and the doctors about the situation, apparently that's the #1 cause of early age stroke. Charlotte is currently on blood thinning medication and in recovery mode, she has gained most of her mobility back, but her memory and cognitive skills are still not at 100%. She is still in the hospital waiting until next week for the doctors to perform the operation to patch up her heart. The good news is that it's 100% fixable, and she will be able to make a full recovery through physical therapy over the next couple of months.
Damon is the type of person that will never ask for help and persevere through any challenges thrown at him. I've seen him going through more personal hardship that anyone else and still be able to come to work with the best attitude. To be honest, if I was not sharing this information, no one would ever know what he is going through outside of Uchiko.
Damon and Charlotte have enough family support and helping hands between hospital visits, taking kids to and from school and numerous house duties. Damon is in good spirit right now, when I spoke to him tonight he had a very good positive outlook and attitude. What we can do is get ahead of the piling medical bills. Charlotte didn’t have insurance. You can imagine how hard this must be for her. I’m putting this go fund me together to show this family that the Uchi family runs deep, not just employee and guests. We have to come together and show these amazing people how loved and cherished they are. It’s the least we can do.
