Help Damon Get A New Foot

Hi, my name is Damon and I’m fundraising to help pay medical bills relating to a Necrotizing Fasciitis infection I caught last December that destroyed my left foot. Unbeknownst to me while walking around Los Angeles in early December 2023 on a trip, I was infected with the bacteria and carried it home to Arkansas. Falling ill upon my return, I struggled with other health issues relating to diabetes before the infection became apparent. I was able to get to UAMS Medical Center on New Years Eve. They saved my life. 1 in 3 people die from the infection even with surgery. I am one of the lucky ones that lived.

However I am in between jobs right now, only have a small insurance policy, and have been a live in care giver for nine out of the last thirteen years with little income and no savings. My medical bills are unexpected and enormous. I have no means to pay them on my own. That is why I am asking for help.

Funds raised will be used to:

1. Pay off my $40,000 ER bill.

2. Pay off my $5000 doctor visit bills.

3. Pay for the $20,000 estimated cost of medication, physical therapy, and financing my new artificial foot at Horton's Prosthetics.

5. Pay for my $12,000 estimated cost of living expenses: food, utilities, rent, insurance, and travel over the length of my year long recovery.

It is important to me to be able to walk again and return to work and my life volunteering, directing films, writing books, designing games, and making art. At 50 years old I never thought I would be in a wheelchair, but here I am trying my best to deal with the situation of being a rare survivor of one of the deadliest pathogens in the world.
