Help Dana Brown Fight Cancer

Dana (Danny B) Brown has been diagnosed with Stage III, non-operable Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the larynx. Lots of friends and family have noticed a change in Dana's voice over the last several months and late this summer, we discovered that his left vocal cord is completely paralyzed from a cancerous tumor. Immediately following this diagnoses, Dana began a very busy schedule of testing, scanning and scheduling, requiring a ton of time off of work. Due to the location of the tumor, this cancer is not operable unless he's willing to have his voice box removed and anyone who knows Dana knows that not eating and talking would not be a livable option for him, so he has opted for treatment. During the second week of October 2023, he began an extremely aggressive regiment of radiation five days a week for seven weeks, combined with high-dose weekly chemotherapy. The cancer being in the throat poses a ton of challenges that it otherwise wouldn't for cancer in other places in the body; for instance, the radiation has greatly affected Dana's ability to both speak and swallow, requiring the use of a feeding tube and possibly a tracheotomy. Dana's job not only requires him to be 100% in energy and presence 50+ hours a week, but also requires him to talk for 10-12 hours a day, which is not possible right now. We are so thankful for the health insurance he has through work but as many of you know, health insurance doesn't cover everything. In addition to an outrageous deductible and daily co-pays; just the over-the-counter remedies for protecting his mouth and throat from long-term, permanent damage is about $100/week. Additionally, we are required to pay out-of-pocket for the nutritional drinks and formula used in the feeding tube, which is incredibly expensive at all retailers. The nearest radiation facility is 30 miles away, and is required daily; and many of his treatments and procedures have been out of state, requiring hotel and travel accommodations. This, combined with Dana's needed time off of work has backed us into a financial corner. Most of you know that Dana is a very private person and tries to bring only lightness and laughter to everyone he meets so accepting his diagnoses was almost as tough as asking for help. Dana's history in the music and television industry is incredibly extensive and we are hopeful that the many ways he's touched friends, family and fans will come through in this impossibly difficult time for Dana and our family. If you've been touched by the deep impacts he's had as Spacemen, Trip Theory, System II, or just as a solo dj/producer, we hope that you'll consider contributing to helping Dana fight cancer. Every dollar and every share truly counts. Thank you!
This photo shows Dana strapped to the table during his daily radiation treatments. The mask is tight on his face to ensure he doesn't move, helping the radiation target his tumor precisely. Many of you know that Dana is extremely claustrophobic and has a long history of panic attacks so this is one of the worst parts of this experience for him.
