Help David and Danielle’s Brave Move During Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Danielle and I have been married to my husband David for eight years. In September 2022, David was diagnosed with stage 3B squamous cell lung cancer. After being told in January 2023 that his cancer was in remission, David returned to work in mid-April when he began to feel better from his many chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Unfortunately, the day after his 46th birthday on July 19, after a visit to the emergency department, we were told that David’s cancer had metastasized to his brain. He had three large tumors that needed to be surgically removed with radiation therapy to follow. No more than 30 days after his first surgery, we were told that the tumors had returned aggravated from the radiation therapy and David had another more invasive surgery.
While our whole world was turned upside down with his new diagnosis and surgeries, we came to find out that David’s oldest half-brother was filing to become administrator of their deceased mother’s home to force the sale. We have been living in and caring for the home for six years and was a total shock to us. The “investor” that his half brother was working with was trying to force us out within a month and before administration was granted, so we had to hire an attorney. David is now the administrator of the estate and is now responsible for the sale of the home that has to be split between his mother’s ex husband who gets half and his three half brothers making David’s share an eighth (1/8) of the home. We’re not expecting much after attorney fees.
David and I have lived our whole life here on Long Island but unfortunately, buying a home here now is impossible with our limited income. Fortunately, we have found a home in upstate New York that we can afford. We have no friends or family in the area and will also have to seek new doctors for David’s continued immunotherapy and chemotherapy treatments. We’re very excited but extremely nervous at the same time.
I am writing today to ask for any donation you can give to help with our moving costs. David and I are not able to do the heavy lifting that we used to do and the moving costs from here to 376 miles upstate are astronomical.
Any additional monies received will go towards travel expenses for us and our pets and any unforeseen expenses related to our big move.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and anything you can give would be greatly appreciated. If you can not help monetarily please keep us in your thoughts and if you can pass our story along. Thank you again and be well!
