Help Danny Heal After Motocross Accident
Donation protected
On April 5th, my boyfriend Danny got into a massive motocross accident at a track in Sandy. I received a call at work from his brother saying Danny had been in a bad wreck and was currently getting lifeflighted to OHSU. I got a ride to the emergency room, and after a couple of hours of waiting, we were finally given an update. Danny had sustained some pretty nasty trauma to his head. From what they could see, there were 3 small brain bleeds and some significant swelling. There were also 3 fractures in his neck/back, one at C1, a burst fracture in his thoracic, and one in his lower back, as well as a couple of facial fractures in his nasal area.
Danny is currently hooked up to a breathing tube, a feeding tube, and has electrodes in his brain to monitor the pressure and oxygen in his brain. At this point, he still has not been conscious from the crash, originally from the trauma itself, but now medically induced to keep the swelling down in his brain.
Doctors have informed us it’s possible he won’t need surgery to fix his back fractures, but can’t give us a for sure until they are able to get an x-ray of his back while he is standing. We also have been informed his facial fractures should heal on their own. For now, their biggest concern is his brain and letting that swelling come down.
We appreciate all the love, support, and prayers, but as I sit here next to him, the realization of him being out of work for months, me taking time off from work to be at the hospital and to help his recovery at home, as well as the thousands of dollars of medical bills we are expecting, will put us under.
We have months of recovery ahead of us, checkups, up to, and over a year out, and quite honestly still have no idea how things will work out in the end.
As proud as I am, I want to focus on Danny’s recovery and have him stress-free and able to focus on one thing and one thing only: getting better.
