Help Danny Sr and Family Through Medical Crisis

I am writing on behalf of my brother-in-law Danny Sr and sister Melanisse. Danny was admitted to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho for emergency surgery on Oct. 16, 2024; however, the surgery was not an option due to other complications. Danny’s situation required a medically induced coma and spent three weeks in the hospital (two of those weeks were in ICU). While in the hospital, fluid was removed and embolisms were found in his lungs. He was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer (the doctor is still evaluating if he may have stage 4). Over his medical stay, he had improvements and was stable enough for some emergency surgeries. A transfer to a rehabilitation center would have greatly benefited Danny, unfortunately, he could not because his insurance denied coverage of that specific care. So Danny was discharged to home with home health and wound care that comes with a daily cost.

Melanisse has a full load with navigating the hospital, insurance, and financial assistance requirements, all the while keeping herself and the kids emotionally and physically well. Even with medical insurance, Danny has a hefty deductible of $7,000. Danny will not be able to return to work anytime soon and the costs continue to pile higher and higher.

I share his story with you in hopes you can offer a helping hand by contributing financially. The family has had to take work off, and Danny Sr is the family’s main financial provider.
