Help Darius and Family

Hi, my name is Jillian and I am fundraising for my nephew Darius, his 2 brothers ,Mum and Dad. Here is the start of their journey.

 

On the morning of the 29th of November 2021. I took my son who was only 5 weeks old to the ED in Gladstone, thinking that he only had a cold. A young Dr at the hospital knew something wasn’t right with Darius and did blood test straight away. Thank god he did because the blood test come back showing abnormal cells. The Dr said he had Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, which is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes to many lymphocytes (a type of white blood cells). This is very rare in newborns.

 

Then at that moment my world turned upside down. Not really understanding what was going on, the Dr had to explain it to me a few time because I was in that much shook. Not knowing what was going to happen , they flew me and my baby Darius to the Queensland Children Hospital in Brisbane that night. I went with nothing but the clothes I had on back and 1 bag for Darius. I had to leave my 2 other sons in Gladstone with my family Jamahl (10years old) and Javan (4 year olds).

 

They started treatment immediately that next morning. The Dr told me that me and baby Darius will be spending at least the 12 months to 2 years at the Queensland Children Hospital.

On the 3rd day at the hospital Darius got rushed to ICU, and stayed in there for 3 days. My heart broke when this happened because I didn’t know what was going to happen and if he was going to come out. Lucky my baby Darius is strong and pulled through, Darius has been through 15 day straight of chemotherapy and been on steroids everyday as well as blood infusion. Darius has been through 2 operations all ready and will be going through more surgery through out his treatment.

 

This fund has been set up for Sarah, Darius dad and her other 2 sons to help them out financially. Darius dad through his job in so that he could be here to support his son and Sarah. This fund will support the loss of income and help out with returning her other 2 son back to school. Also help with travel expenses for Darius 2 brothers to visit him. As they will be staying with family until Sarah and Darius return home. Sarah also has bills at home including her fur baby’s poppy, bear and teddy (jack russells)car maintenance and living expenses for her 2 boys. Sarah will still have to provide for her and Darius during her stay in hospital and she will also have other unknown cost that will come along in her journey.
