Please help Darragh have a safe place to sleep

Hi, my name is James and it would change my family’s life if you could please help with providing a safe and secure bed for our son Darragh.

Like most people this is not something I ever wanted to do ( ask for help). I’ve always wanted to fix things myself, and to be honest I feel guilty for not being able to do more. It took us a long time to ask for help as we always felt there are far more worthy causes out there.

Our son Darragh is nearly 8, is non-verbal, is Autistic and has a severe intellectual disability. He has also been diagnosed with ADHD and dyspraxia.

Darragh is the most wonderful and loving little boy, full of smiles and giggles and loves to play. We love every little thing about him and we always do the best we can to make sure he’s happy.

But Darragh can also be extremely challenging at times, and can lash out and become extremely frustrated ( who would blame him if you can’t communicate!) He is a flight risk and will do everything and anything he can to escape, whether that’s from the house, his room (or his clothes!)

The reason we have started this gofundme page is to provide a Autism safe bed which is padded and enclosed, somewhere where he (and us as a family of 6) can finally get a full nights sleep without running around the house at 3am because he can’t sleep in a normal bed.

Unfortunately the NHS in Northern Ireland can’t or won’t provide us with any kind of safe sleeping arrangement, and we just can’t afford the beds which cost anywhere from £5000-8000. We also have nowhere safe and secure for him to eat, and if by your amazing generosity we raise the full amount we’d love to buy him a special needs chair and desk so he can finally eat while sitting down. Again unfortunately the health service can’t provide us with any of the equipment needed.

IF we can raise the funds it would be absolutely life changing and amazing and we couldn’t thank you enough. I could write a lot more but I don’t want to bore you.
