Help Darrell Nutt Beat Stage IIIa Rectal Cancer

If you know Darrell, you know that he is talented in many musical and artistic fields and he always brings a laugh and a smile to the moment. He has performed with several bands and artists, local and national, and has been the go-to drummer for bands needing a fill-in for a night or two. He helps artists and songwriters realize their dreams through producing/recording their music and directing/editing their videos. In 2022, Darrell was honored by being inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame.

Darrell was recently diagnosed with Stage IIIA rectal cancer.

On December 4th, Darrell went for a routine colonoscopy and four small polyps were removed and biopsied. One of the four polyps was diagnosed as cancerous.

The day after Christmas, December 26, 2023, he had an MRI and CT scan that revealed the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes behind his rectum.

He had a chemotherapy port installed in his chest on January 11, 2024 to deliver chemotherapy drugs directly to his bloodstream. Darrell starts aggressive chemotherapy this week on January 15. His team of doctors (Dr. Lowell Hart, MD, FACP, Dr. Jeffrey A. Neale, MD, FACS, FASCRS, & Dr. Keith L. Miller, MD, Radiation Oncologist) are deciding on the future treatment plan of chemotherapy, radiation and major surgery.

The prognosis of Stage IIIA rectal cancer is very serious.

In the coming months Darrell may not be able to work due to chemotherapy and radiation treatment side-effects, and major surgery.

My name is Lisa Brandt and I am Darrell’s longtime girlfriend. Darrell and I met in high school in Barker, New York in 1985. We live together in Fort Myers, FL with our kitty cat Betty Spaghetti. Darrell’s Mother, Birdie Heidemann, lives in North Fort Myers and is very proud of her son!
