Help Darren become more mobile again

Hi my name is leanne. My brother Darren became seriously ill back in April this year after an accident at work. Darren 45 years old is a hard working family man with 2 young children.

Darren had a simple accident at work where he caught his hand on machinery leaving a small cut to his hand. Unbeknown to us this small cut would turn in to something life threatening and nearly cost him his life after family were called in to say goodbye. What we didn’t know was sepsis had took hold and Darren’s body began to shut down. Darren was put into an induced coma to give his body a rest in HDU at the freeman hospital.

Darren miraculously pulled through and kept fighting but the damage sepsis had done was life changing.

The medical staff did all they could to try save his legs but the damage was too Severe. Darren underwent two huge operations to amputate both his legs from below the knee. Darren spent a total of 11 weeks in hospital due to his determination to get his life back on track.

Darren is now home with his family and has been a total Inspiration to everyone and we are all so proud of his positive attitude.

Darren is currently learning to adapt to a new way of life in a wheel chair and is waiting to be fitted with Prosthetic legs.

Darren is even more Determined that ever and will adjusting back to work in September.

Darren has always been independent and always loved his car however he won’t ever be able to drive a manual car again.

we have been to see about how they can adapt an automatic car to help him get about but this will cost £500. Due to being off work on basic sick pay my brother and his partner simply can not afford it at this present time.

I am asking if anyone can donate, even as little as a pound to help get my brother his independence back. I know times are financially tough at the moment but anything generously donated would be really appreciated.
