Help Darren Nicholson Band support their communities in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene!

Hi, friends - we are the Darren Nicholson Band, a bluegrass band based in Canton, North Carolina. Our communities were heavily impacted by tragic flooding during Hurricane Helene, and now they need your support!

The entire band is out serving their communities at this time:

Avery is a first responder doing search and rescue

Aynsley is distributing supplies in Unicoi, TN

Kevin is distributing water and fuel

Darren is cutting trees and distributing supplies in Haywood County, NC

We realize there are a lot of places you can donate, but lots of people have been reaching out to us directly asking what our communities need and what they can do. We are all proud to be of service at this time and we want to work together with you! This is a way that you can directly support our cleanup efforts on the ground.

A note from Darren:

This is an extremely stressful and traumatic time for so many in our region. For those of us who can, let’s get into action!

We did this in 2021 with hurricane Fred. We were able to deliver over $14,000 worth of groceries and supplies through our campaign.

Folks outside of our area are asking how they can help now… well this is one way. We will personally purchase and deliver groceries and necessities. I’ve already spoken at length with the manager of Sav-Mor Foods in Canton and we will be working with them to make this happen. Let’s be of service! We will deliver to Haywood and Buncombe Counties. Unfortunately, in times of crisis, there are lots of scams, so I just want to create an opportunity for people to use us and make sure of where their funds and energy are going.

When a catastrophe occurs, it’s the human response to go in to fight or flight mode. These kind of situations can bring out the absolute worst in people, and it can also bring out the very best in people. Those good qualities are the solution. So I would encourage everyone, myself included, to have a little more grace, kindness and patience as we work through this. We are all emotional and weary.

I’m just looking at this as an opportunity to be a part of something that is so much bigger than me. The Bluegrass community, Western North Carolina and friends around the world have given me so much over my lifetime. Here’s an opportunity to carry that forward and to be of service to others.
