Help Dave Wilkins, Regain His Independence
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and community members,
We come to you with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to rally around one of our own, Dave Wilkins, a dedicated retired firefighter from the Iona McGregor Fire District. Dave has spent his life selflessly serving and protecting our community, but now he needs our help.
Last November, tragedy struck when Dave suffered a stroke shortly after returning home from hip surgery. It was a devastating blow that turned his world upside down. His wife, Donna, witnessed the initial signs as she was assisting him into bed, noticing a telltale facial droop. Dave was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was intubated and remained in critical care for nine agonizing days.
The stroke Dave endured was massive, leaving him with severe deficits on his left side. Since then, he has fought tirelessly, undergoing months of grueling rehabilitation to reclaim his independence. After months of hard work, Dave finally returned home in March, but the journey to recovery is far from over.
Now, as Dave continues his courageous battle to regain full mobility and functionality, we're reaching out to our community for support. One of the critical tools Dave needs to navigate his path to recovery is a motorized wheelchair equipped with thick tires. This specialized equipment will enable him to maneuver around his property independently, fostering his sense of freedom and aiding in his rehabilitation journey.
Your generosity can make a world of difference for Dave as he strives to get back on his feet—literally and figuratively. Every contribution, no matter how small, will directly impact Dave's quality of life and his ability to work towards his goal of reaching 100%.
Let's come together as a community to support Dave in his time of need. Your kindness and generosity will serve as a beacon of hope, empowering Dave to overcome this obstacle and emerge stronger than ever.
Thank you for considering a donation and for sharing Dave's story far and wide. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the life of our beloved firefighter and friend.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Wilkins Family
