Help David and Christy Rebuild After Fire

Hi, my name is Emily Darr, and I’m raising funds for my parents, David and Christy Darr. They are the most hardworking and kind-hearted people, always putting the needs of others before their own. Now, in the face of unimaginable loss, I’m reaching out to ask for help on their behalf.

My parents recently lost their home, their truck, and their food truck trailer (which was their business) in a devastating fire. The fire was caused by a downed power line during Hurricane Milton in Orlando, Florida. The fire department initially responded when the fire was small, but shockingly, they never attempted to extinguish it. After leaving the scene without notice, the fire continued to burn, and less than an hour later, it grew out of control, engulfing the entire house, truck, and food truck. When the fire department finally returned, it was already too late, and everything had been lost.

Thankfully, all five of their beloved pets made it out alive, but we are still struggling to process this unimaginable loss—not only of their home but also of their business and livelihood. The funds raised will help my parents replace their truck, rebuild their food truck business, and secure housing as they work to rebuild their lives. They reported roof damage from the previous storm, but their insurance denied the claim due to the roof’s age. To make matters worse, they received notice that their policy would be canceled unless the roof was replaced by a certain date. They promptly signed a contract with a roofing company, but the repairs couldn’t be completed before Hurricane Milton struck resulted in no coverage for this damage.
