Support for David and Rosie Bartel

I am setting up this fundraiser on behalf of David and Rosie Bartel. I have had the privilege of getting to know both of them over the past six months and cannot think of two people more deserving of love and support from their friends and family right now.
For those who do not yet know, on June 26th David was diagnosed with aggressive stage IV pancreatic cancer.
The Diagnosis
At the end of February, David began experiencing mild shoulder pain. This pain slowly moved into his back over the next few months. In late-March, David elected to see his doctor about his back pain. This was during the initial uptick in COVID-19 cases. At the time, his doctor seemed dismissive and attributed his pain to poor posture and lack of exercise.
Following the advice of his doctor, David began seeing a chiropractor regularly. After weeks of continued pain, the chiropractor recommended an MRI. On June 26th, David got his MRI. That same day, he was called back to his doctor's office and informed that the scan had revealed bone cancer.
In the few short weeks since David's MRI, his pain has dramatically intensified and CT scans and a biopsy have revealed multiple organ involvement. As of this week David has been enrolled in a clinical trial and is receiving aggressive chemotherapy in an effort to slow the progression of the cancer.
The goal of this fundraiser is to surround David and Rosie with as much support as possible. All proceeds will go directly to the Bartel family to assist with medical and living expenses.

If you find yourself reading these words, it is likely that you are already familiar with the story of David's wife Rosie - and by extension - the immense support she has received from her husband David over the last 10+ years. If however, you are not familiar - Rosie Bartel experienced a complication following a routine knee replacement in 2009 - a surgical site infection. Those familiar with this story know that the Bartels have already experienced more than their share of hardship over the last decade and David has been Rosie's "rock" every step of the way.
Now it is David's turn to feel the support of everyone around him.
Rosie and David want me to make it clear that financial support is not the only way to show your support, especially given the uncertainty accompanying this time of COVID-19. Phone calls, kind words, prayers, or simply keeping them in your thoughts are all gratefully received.

Daniel Ricci has known David and Rosie for only a short time. They first met in January while working together to promote patient involvement in scientific research. They have been meeting regularly and Daniel has observed David's story unfold over the past few months. Daniel's goal is to help David and Rosie feel the support of everyone they have touched with their tremendous lives during this challenging time. Please consider donating and sharing.
