Help David Cardenas get a prosthetic leg.

My name is Jamie Ferreira, and I am fundraising for my dad, David Cardenas.

My dad had to undergo a toe amputation in May 2023 due to complications of diabetes. Unfortunately, due to the negligence of a skilled nursing facility, he acquired an infection that quickly spread. Consequently, he then had to undergo multiple surgeries, and ended up losing the lower part of his left leg. We are fundraising to pay for the portion of the leg prosthetic not covered by his insurance.

David lives in an apartment that is up very steep stairs and has not been able to go home due to being wheelchair-bound. My dad, David, has always been very active and independent, and he misses his home and pets a lot. He loves visiting his family in Washington state, Washington DC, and our kids in California. He is so lucky to have good friends helping him, but he longs to return home. His grandkids miss him, and my girls specifically are asking when Grandpa Dave can come visit and read them books.

David has had a hard few months with multiple surgeries, and then, this past month, we lost my youngest brother, Jarrod. Jarrod was taking care of my dad’s place and his pets when he passed away. He was so concerned about our dad’s wellbeing. It’s been heartbreaking for our entire family. My dad is humble and has never asked me for a thing. Even during all of these complications, he didn’t complain and has been thankful for any help he receives. Even $5 will help. Please help my dad to be able to return to his home and beloved pets, and be able to visit his family again.
