Help David Carter Fight Brain Cancer
Donation protected
In April of 2024, my dad, David Carter, went to the emergency room for a severe headache. After undergoing tests at Johns Hopkins, they found several brain tumors. Soon after, he underwent brain surgery to remove as much as possible. After further testing, we learned that he has grade 4 Glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer. David recovered well from surgery and has had support and assistance from myself, his two sisters, my mom, and my brother in the months since his diagnosis.
In June, David will begin his first round of chemotherapy and radiation. While we are profoundly fortunate to have a strong support system from family and friends, keeping up with finances has become difficult. David was laid off earlier this year and was actively job-searching when he received his diagnosis, but has had to put that on hold while he receives treatment. The high cost of cancer treatments, combined with David’s inability to work as he undergoes treatment, has made it challenging to keep up with bills.
If you have not had the pleasure of knowing my father personally, he is truly the most kind and caring person I’ve ever met. He has been a constant source of unconditional support for my brother and me, always putting our needs before his own. He is passionate about travel, astronomy, art, and live music. Although his diagnosis has created a “new normal” for him, he has maintained his enthusiasm for all things music-related and was back to playing his guitar within a week of surgery. Anyone who knows my dad knows that although this will not be an easy fight, he is up for the challenge and has remained relentlessly optimistic.
The goal of this fundraiser is to alleviate the financial burden of treatment combined with an inability to pursue employment for the time being. Funds will go towards co-pays for his treatments, his mortgage, and essential bills.
We deeply appreciate anything that you are able to give, but we fully understand that not everyone is in a situation where they can easily contribute financially. If you aren’t able to donate, we would really appreciate if you could share to help spread the word. Anything helps and it truly means the world to us.
With Love,
June Carter
