Dear friends and family,
My name is DavidJoshua Montez and I am happy to share that I have just been admitted to the Sustainable International Development (SID) program at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.
I graduated from Trinity University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as well as minors in Human Communication and Film Studies. Trinity University was a rigorous and insightful experience for me. I began my time there not really knowing what I wanted to do or study. However, while taking my psychology courses I became fascinated with systems that influence inequalities in education, food distribution, wealth disparities, environmental safety and well-being. This is an area of study that I now have the opportunity to study further so that I may one day help to make a difference in our communities.
Unfortunately, after completing my undergraduate studies in December 2019, I entered the workplace that changed drastically due to the pandemic. This obstacle did not stop me from attaining a career in sustainability as I actively pursued positions for nonprofit organizations. While I was able to gain some experience in this sector, I was limited in the amount of work I was able to acquire. As a result, I am lacking the necessary funds that would allow me to continue my education.
I am currently fundraising primarily to finance the tuition cost for the SID program as well as the move to Waltham, Massachusetts (right near Boston). Please support this journey by contributing to this GoFundMe. Every penny counts! Many thanks for your generous contributions.
