Help David Restore His Vision and Independence

Hello there, my name is David and I'm asking for help in this difficult time. I ask those who can find it in their hearts to offer what help they possibly can. For the past year, I've slowly experienced worsening vision loss while caring for my elderly and medically dependent father. Due to the nature of his sickness and disability, it was necessary for me to devote my full time and attention to his care and health. We were blessed enough that as the year progressed, I was able to find employment and, in turn, health insurance, but until his passing earlier this week, he was still the primary source of our income.
With his passing, I am able to thankfully take care of utilities and upkeep of the home that has been left to us, but little else. It was also this week, and sadly on the very same day of his passing, that I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes due to my diagnosis of type 2 diabetes five months ago. At this point, my vision is 20/70 in my left eye, and 20/300 in my right eye, leaving me legally blind in that eye. It is thanks to my sister that I am able to make this plea for help.
Thankfully, this medical condition is curable and easily so; it is simply a matter of being able to afford the costs of treatment. For one eye, after what is covered by insurance, the costs total to $2970. This covers the cost of the procedure itself, the anesthesia for the procedure, and the facility cost for the surgery itself. The cost to treat both eyes would be that first amount again, due to the necessity that only one eye can be worked on at a time. Due to the degeneration of my vision, I am at risk of losing my job and what little health insurance I do have if I cannot treat at least one eye soon. I wouldn't dream of trying to obtain the full amount required for both eyes; just the worse of the two would allow me to see, work, and function without the aid of others. Aid that is not practical due to the lives and circumstances of the family I do have here in town.
I've always tried to be self-sufficient and independent, and I've always tried to avoid asking for help, especially the kind of help that relies on the kindness of strangers. But with the need to take care of my father's final expenses and my meager income and insurance, I can only ask, and hope, and give every ounce of thanks that I possibly can to those who can help. If the amount that I am asking for is met, anything over that amount will go towards the total for the second surgery needed, and the one to two days of lost wages necessitated by my recovery.
