Lillard Family Loss, Davids Wife and Daughter
I'm Randon Reaves, a close personal friend to the Lillard Family, and wishing to assist the family thru a troubling time.
Details from the Houston Chronicle:
David Lillard lost both his wife and daughter after a horrible chain of events about 9:30 Sunday morning the 20th of June after the Lillard family prayed together for the last time.
The whole Lillard family suffered a staggering loss, when Virginia “Jenni” Lillard, 39, was trying to break free from an abusive relationship. Jenni and her parents prayed for the man’s peace so she could be left alone.
Later that morning, authorities said that the gunman fatally shot Jenni and her mother before opening fire on police. A Police Officer arrived in time to see the gunman open the door and shoot Jeni's Mother, Rita Lillard at point-blank range. She later died. David and his wife were married 47 years when it ended before his eyes.
The gunman then opened fire on the officers, striking one of their vehicles. The officers returned fire, and the man retreated inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds. He was hospitalized but expected to survive. Police said both women died at the scene.
According to George Lillard, Sunday was the gunman's birthday, and he had spent the previous night drinking.
Police had been called on Jenni Lillard’s ex before for domestic disputes this past month, according to her cousin, Mary Lillard.
Police were not sure if the suspect shot his girlfriend or her mother first.
“Virginia was a loving, wonderful girl and that was part of the problem. She just put up with too much. And of course, her mother was trying to protect her. “He shot her in cold blood,” George Lillard said.
I am trying to raise $10,000 to assist David with the funeral and other expenses. This is certainly a terrible thing to go through so maybe we can help remove some of the burdens by assisting David financially and showing him there are people who care and share his grief.
All contributions are most appreciated and will be forwarded to David Lillard for the purpose of covering final arrangements for Jeni Lillard and Rita Lillard.
