Help David Vincent's fight against Leukemia
Donation protected
David Vincent Gallardo, who recently turned five, has started his new year with a leukemia diagnosis. His mother Alyssa (my coworker and good friend) and his father David are devastated and overwhelmed by the news.
Towards the end of summer, David Vincent started having odd symptoms, including bone pain and reoccurring fevers. Alyssa and David took him to multiple doctors as the symptoms persisted. After seeing a rheumatologist, test results showed an alarming amount of inflammation and a low red blood cell count. David Vincent's parents were told to pack their bags and go down to Rady Children's Hospital emergency room immediately.
A bone marrow biopsy revealed the presence of blast cells, indicating the presence of leukemia. Additional tests are still being performed to see the extent of his condition. While worried, his parents are optimistic and grateful for the amazing care at Rady's.
David Vincent will be starting chemo on Monday or Tuesday and will continue treatment throughout the year.
Even with insurance, a lengthy hospital stay, a year of chemo and multiple invasive tests are going to cost their family tens of thousands of dollars. I have started this page in the hopes that we can help relieve Alyssa and David of the additional burden of financial stress during this already difficult time.
