Davinia is a 51 year old woman, she is a daughter, a sister, a mother, a wife, a grandmother, an aunty, a great aunty and a friend. She has always been a bright light in everyone's lives, the life and soul and brings laughter and smiles everywhere she goes. She always has time for anyone and everyone and shows everyone love. Davinia has just been given the devastating news that she has a high grade stage 4 glioblastoma, a very invasive and aggressive brain tumour for which there is no cure. Her only option is chemotherapy and radiotherapy to prolong her life.
Davinia has lynch syndrome, also know as hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), it is the most common cause of hereditary colorectal (colon) cancer. In 2007 she was diagnosed with bowel cancer at 38 years old. Luckily it was caught early and a simple operation would be enough. Unfortunately there were complications and her bowel ruptured, resulting in her being placed in an induced coma for 3 months. She lost dramatic amounts of weight and was left with a stoma and bag for life. But throughout this she remained positive and upbeat.
She has undergone a full hysterectomy to reduce her risks of developing other cancers caused by the lynch syndrome and over the last 14 years she has had nothing but health issues and complications including short gut syndrome which meant her body could not hold on to the nutrients it needed and her weight went down to below 7st, resulting in a 4-5 month hospital stay last year. She was fitted with a permanent TP line to ensure her body got everything it needed and she could start gaining weight. While she was in hospital she was given the devastating news that they had found masses on her lungs and she had lung cancer, the news was given to the family and lots of tears were shed. But just days later the doctors said they were wrong and it was her COPD showing up on xrays.
Then just months later she was told there were 3 tumours on her brain and she would need a biopsy. Just days before her biopsy she tested positive positive covid so it was put back another 4 weeks. The biopsy went ahead eventually and her results were back within a few days. She has been given at most 18 months, but due to the lynch syndrome and the aggressiveness of the tumours it will be a miracle if she makes it that far, which is absolutely heartbreaking. The family are crushed by this news, especially her two children who she has very close relationships and bonds with. They deserve to be able to make more memories together.
There are things Davinia and her husband Chris would like to do with their children and grandchildren in-between her treatments such as visiting Cornwall once more. Davinia has also been wanting to decorate her living room and hallways which needs stripping, plastering and painting but due to health issues over the years hasn't been able to get it done. As a family we would like to raise the funds to get this done so her safe place is as comfortable and relaxing as possible. We would appreciate any donations, please help us make Davinias time left a happy and comfortable time because after all she has been through she deserves this.
Thank you
