Help Dawn with her Devastating Journey
Donation protected
I would like to introduce my dear friend of over 20 years. Dawn Sistito Jenkins who lives in Daytona Beach, FL. On Oct. 2017 Dawn was in a car accident. In August 18, 2018 she had a rhinoplasty to correct her breathing issue from this car accident. The surgery was botched. 3 specialists told her there was only 3 people in the United States that can help her correct this medical problem. Dawn has BCBS Blue HMO of Florida.
Dawn had 2 of the 3 surgeries to correct her breathing and they were very successful. Dawn could breath again despite the skin grafting still in her cheeks and nose. The week before the final surgery, Dr T called with bad news. A biopsy he took came back with her being diagnosed with nasal cancer. Dawn has taken loans, opened credit cards and borrowed money to the maximum of her capacity to be able to breath again, before this diagnosis. October 7th 2019 my friend Dawn lost her nose to cancer. I guess you would call it a nose amputation?
Dawn has spent tens of thousands of dollars to be able to breath again. Dawn is a veteran 82nd Airborne and one of the most kind and caring, sweet souls you could meet. Dawn is always caring and helping other people, please help me help her.
she need s treatment now and insurance is not moving and or denying medical request. Doctor in Chicago is trying to find doctors in Florida so they can get her insurance to cover portions of these things. She needs a prosthetic nose, six weeks of radiation five days a week, immuno therapy. This is just the beginning of her treatment. Thank you advance for your prays and any donation big or small. Everything helps at this point in her journey.
This is how her Journey has unfolded~
October 17, 2017 Dawn was rear ended sitting at a traffic light on her way to work. $8,000 damage to the rear end of her new car. Dawn acquired a neck injury and a broken nose from this accident. What a way to start the day.
On August 21, 2018 Dawn had a rhinoplasty surgery to correct her nose that twisted and was restricting her breathing thru her nose from the trauma of this unfortunate car accident.
Dawn never recovered from this surgery. Things kept getting worse. She visited this surgeon several times raising concerns of what she felt “something is wrong”. He kept telling her it was just scar tissue and he could not do anything for a year.
July30, 2019 surgery was scheduled. 3 hours before her surgery this surgeon called and cancelled the surgery. Her exact words were “ I think God is trying to tell me something”.
Dawn went back to the ENT who told her then she now had a collapsed double deviated septum and scar tissue that was turning her nose from the trauma, and I will add pulling her lip up. she could not breath out of her nose and her nose was turning purple. She asked him who could fix it, and his reply was there is a guy in Chicago, maybe he can! Dawn also went to two other plastic surgeons. She asked if they could fix her nose and they BOTH said NO, beyond my abilities. Both recommended her to the same surgeon in Chicago.
August 6th 2019 Dawn was in Chicago meeting with Dr. T. August 28th, 2019, Dawn had 1 of the 3 rhinoplasty surgery’s it was going to take to fix her nose.
Dawn had a 7 hour surgery where they harvested bone from her rib, Cartledge and fat to fix her nose. He had found a huge abscess where her nose collapsed she was cut from around her nose down to her chin. She had tubes for flushing, nasal soaks. This surgery was major. 10 days later she had her second surgery before she went back home to Florida with more tubes and flaps into her cheeks. Dawns final surgery was scheduled for yesterday October 7th, to finalize this medical issue. Back to breathing normal again . Things were looking up!
Tuesday September 24th. 2019 Dawns Surgeon Dr. T called her with bad news. She has nasal cancer. After all of the 10s of thousands of dollars Dawn has spent of her own money on her nose to be able to breath will now be destroyed.
My friends, I’m here to tell you my beautiful, compassionate loving friend lost her nose today,, Tuesday October 7th, 2019. I don’t know if they call it a nose amputation. The good news is that the cancer has not spread to her eyes or her brain. Please keep Dawn in your prayers. Thank you in advance.
