Daydream Records is a small, independent, non-profit label based in San Diego, California. They specialize in pressing limited-run records, supporting both emerging artists and reissuing out-of-print releases. Often offering multiple variants, Daydream stands out by giving surplus records and all profits directly back to the artists. In December 2024, Daydream Records learned that their pressing plant, Softwax Records, had filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy two months earlier, in October. Shortly after the announcement, the plant shut down entirely—impacting not only Softwax but also all the labels they serviced, including Daydream Records. For Daydream, the shutdown took along $11,594.15 worth of downpayments, $9275.32 of which was taken upfront for record preorders while the remaining $2,318.83 was being withheld. Unfortunately, none of the preorders can be fulfilled due to the plant's abrupt shutdown. In their bankruptcy filing, Softwax Record Pressing LLC stated that they do not expect to have enough assets to repay unsecured creditors. As a result, Daydream Records is facing a total financial loss with no reimbursement. This GoFundMe was created to help them recover and keep the label alive.
