Help Dean Gracey Fight Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate Cancer
The Graceys' lives were turned upside down on Thanksgiving weekend of 2023 when
Dean was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate Cancer. Dean is a 62-year-old
loving husband and father to Pamela and Tyler Gracey. Dean is known for his love of
life, music, and fishing, along with his sense of humor—always finding a way to bring joy
and a smile to those around him. He has been fighting valiantly despite multiple hospital
stays since his diagnosis.
Over the course of this journey, the Graceys have faced a number of challenges that
have significantly impacted their lives. Dean loved his role as Facilities Manager at
Postcard Cabins (formerly Getaway Tiny Cabins) in Moodus, CT. Unfortunately, due to
his diagnosis and treatment plan, Dean had to step down from his management role
into a more part-time position. This change came with a loss of health insurance
benefits and about a 30% reduction in his typical wage.
Since losing his traditional health insurance benefits, Dean has had to implement
COBRA coverage to maintain his insurance, which comes with an additional out-of-
pocket cost of upwards of $2,100 a month. He is currently struggling to continue
working about 18-20 hours per week due to the overall effects of the illness and the side
effects of his treatment plan. Working in such a physically demanding role in his current
health has been getting harder day by day. Despite this challenging diagnosis, Dean
remains optimistic and determined to continue fighting this battle with all his strength.
As many of you may know, Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate Cancer is an aggressive form of
cancer that requires intensive treatment. Dean is currently undergoing hormone
deprivation shots, infusions, and daily medications and will continue to need ongoing
medical care, medications, and support. With reduced hours, reduced income, and
increased expenses, the monthly costs are overwhelming, and as a family, we are doing
everything we can to manage them. Unfortunately, the financial burden is heavy, and it
is difficult to cover all the necessary expenses while ensuring that Dean continues to
receive the best possible care.
How You Can Help
We are reaching out to our community, friends, and family to ask for your support during this difficult time. Your generous contribution will go directly toward:
● Medical Expenses: Helping cover the cost of treatments, medications, hospital visits,
support services, etc.
● Living Expenses: Assisting with ongoing living expenses as Dean focuses on his health
and recovery.
Every donation, big or small, will significantly impact Dean’s fight against cancer. If you are
unable to donate at this time, sharing this campaign with your network would be immensely helpful.
The Graceys have consistently advocated, fundraised, and supported many local nonprofits and always strive to give back to the community and local small businesses whenever possible. They have touched so many lives and are now in need of their own support during this very tough and challenging time.
A Message from The Graceys
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and ongoing support. Any and all contributions, words of encouragement, hope, and love mean the world to us. We appreciate each and every one of you more than you know.
