Debi is being treated for bladder cancer and her chemo treatments have been devastating. She still has a major surgery scheduled for June 10th and has been unable to work. Please see her story below as written by her close friend Carrie.
Living the American Dream, you know, the one where you can be in business for yourself.
A vital element of the American dream is the belief that through hard work and perseverance, anyone can rise “from rags to riches,” becoming financially successful and socially upwardly mobile. This statement is cited in the Corporate Finance Institute, and they provide a whole article on the American Dream. (Link included below)
Deborah Thomas is living proof of believing in this dream. She went to school to get her realtor license while working a full-time job. Once Debi graduated and achieved the status of Realtor, she went full steam ahead, taking any lead or referral she could get. Although business was booming, she remained employed and carried the task of having two jobs.
Debi eventually let go of the secure job to be there for all her clients full time. Most realtors can attest that it was a leap of faith, but the clients love Debi for her ability to really understand what they need and want.
Debi is great at what she does. Unfortunately, tragedy struck, and the big bad “C” word was embedded into Debi’s life. She was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Going into this battle with the confidence that she could remain active as a realtor to keep her income going, Debi was soon deflated because her chemo treatment was very intense and took a toll on her body. Needless to say, she is no longer able to carry the load she once was, and her savings has dissipated, but the road is still a long one with her needing her surgery next.
Debi is going through physical therapy and will soon have her surgery. There is no predicted end in sight to her recovery, and she is not able to work but still needs to pay her house payment and take care of her other needs. We ask for financial help from all who know and cherish Debi’s contagious laugh and smile. Debi has always been first in line to help others; now, it is her turn to receive some help, as hard as it is for her to do. A simple act of kindness can cause a rippling wave of giving throughout the world, and it starts with you.
Thank you in advance for sharing and giving to this amazing lady. She will cherish the love and then pay it forward. God Bless.
