Please help Debra as she deals with her illness

Hi Everyone-

 

My name is Brian Zimnitzky, and I am a close friend of Debra. We were roommates in San Francisco in the 1990's.

 

As many of you are aware, Debra is suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, an illness that runs in her family. With pulmonary fibrosis, the lung gets more and more scar tissue, making it increasingly difficult to breathe. Debra has been suffering from this for a couple of years, and her breathing has worsened. She was recently in the intensive care unit at her local hospital. She now needs supplemental oxygen in order to breathe more comfortably. The only "curative" treatment is a lung transplant, and Debra is on the waiting list for a lung transplant at UCSF.

 

Due to the severity of Debra's illness, she is unable to work. After her recent discharge from the hospital, she was asked to move out of where she was living. She is now staying at a motel in Walnut Creek while she explores housing options.
