Help Deer Isle-Stonington Residents Garden Again
Donation protected
Since the closing of INH, many local residents from Deer Isle-Stonington have been residing at an Assisted livingfacility in Ellsworth. For over a year now, residents have pushed for more activities to enjoy that reflect the hobbies they enjoyed while living independently. One of the most popular choices among residents was gardening, and recently they were successfully acquire two raised beds to be able to plant and tend to whatever flowers/plants they choose to grow as they please. Weeks later though, they still have no soil for their raised beds, they have no flowers and they have very little for gardening tools. I’m here to try and facilitate these residents with acquiring what they need to be able to enjoy this passion for gardening while still able to and to provide them with what they need that allows them to enjoy an independent, resident led activity that will allow them to feel more like themselves again while doing something they love.
Donations will go towards purchasing items such as:
•soil
•plants/flowers/seeds
•Gardening tools
•gardening gloves
•watering cans
•Nutrients/fertilizers
•etc
Whatever donations are left, if any, after the initial purchase of supplies will go onto a Home Depot or Walmart gift card (whichever the residents choose) that will be given to the residents so that they can order what they may need for the rest of the gardening season this year and be able to have free delivery straight to their front door on whatever they decide to order.
thank you in advance for any and all donations towards making this dream of theirs come true.
