Dear Friends and Family,

I started a new life journey in December of 2021.

I never imagined that at the age of 48 I would be diagnosed with a 4cm meningioma brain tumor that is wrapped around my carotid artery. I discovered it because the tumor was so large it was pressing on one of my optic nerves causing permanent damage and double vision in my left eye.

I never imagined that at the age of 49 I would be dealing with recovering from a craniotomy while hoping I could save my marriage of 22 years.

I did imagine, what if I could never groom dogs again? How could the career and business that I love so much come to an end? I persevered through extreme exhaustion, nausea, headaches, tears and more.

I never imagined that I would be blessed to be able to start grooming part-time again in late 2022. Thanks to a dear friend renting me a table to groom, I started gradually taking clients again. I moved slowly to rebuild my stamina and to work with my vision deficit that the tumor left me with. But here I am and here I will stand. I will live with these symptoms for the rest of my life but I truly believe that “I am so much more than the bad things that have happened to me”.

I never imagined that I would now have the passion, drive and motivation to wipe the dust off The Wag Shop sign and open my doors again. Yep. This time around it will be a small, sweet, and cozy little shop where I will continue to give each dog a gentle and calm grooming experience. I can’t tell you how excited and proud I am to resurrect my beloved grooming salon.

The past few years have been tough and I will have health challenges for the rest of my life but, “You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”
