Help Dele Pay Off His Damaged Car!

Hi, my name is Dele Onifade. Recently, my mom and I have been unable to make ends meet. Unfortunately, my dad has been increasingly absent in the last few years. This year, he only spent less than three weeks with my family in Abuja, Nigeria. This absence has left my mom to handle the financial responsibilities alone.

Although my mom has a medium-scale food catering business, it has not been enough to shoulder our financial burden and debt over the years. Her business ensured my younger brother finished secondary school, but it has not been able to cover the tuition needed for him to complete university. Because of this, we've had to borrow money. I am on a full scholarship for my master's degree, so that alleviates some of our stress. But I still have rent and other bills to cover. Currently, I work as a Bureau de Change operator. I don't have a car or a reliable means of transportation, so my market is limited to customers near me. Due to this, I do not gain much profit.

As a Nigerian living in Cyprus, getting other jobs is tough and often unfavorable due to racism. Due to this, I am either denied job opportunities or expected to accept very low, unlivable wages for my labour. There is also a language barrier because I am still learning Turkish.

I am behind on my rent and have until December 17th to pay it off. It costs $310 per month. I could go homeless if I don't pay it off before then. This fundraiser would help us sort out many of our debts. In turn, it could help us keep my brother in school and keep me from going homeless.

My dad's neglect of the family has left my mom struggling with the pressures of being a single parent. Mustering up the courage to ask for help has been challenging, but we can't do this alone.
