Help My Family Care for My Vulnerable Mother

Hello, I am reaching out for support for my mother, who has been a victim of a heartbreaking incident. She was sexually assaulted by a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the nursing home where she has been residing since January. My mother, who is nonverbal and suffers from dementia and Alzheimer's, cannot defend herself, making this violation even more devastating.

Fortunately, we had a camera in her room that recorded the incident, allowing us to uncover the truth. This is a nightmare no family should have to endure, and it has shattered our trust in the very system meant to care for our loved ones.

My mother is a beloved wife, daughter, and mother of two, and her journey with dementia and Alzheimer's began at the young age of 42. Due to the complexity of her condition, my family and I are unable to provide the level of care she needs, which is why we chose this nursing home, believing it to be a safe environment. Sadly, we were mistaken.

We are now faced with the reality of finding alternative care for her, and we are asking for your help. Our goal is to prevent her from having to enter another nursing home, as we fear this could happen again. In the meantime, my family and I have been taking time off work to care for her ourselves.

We also want to raise awareness about the unfortunate reality of such incidents in nursing homes. It's crucial that we advocate for better protections and accountability for our loved ones who are vulnerable.
