Della Crowe and Gordon Paulson’s battle with cancer

Hello !
Thank you to every single
person who has sent a donation already!
We are so grateful for all of of you❤️
Gordon Paulson (and Della Crowe) could use some help to get through this difficult time.
They are in Ottawa right now. Gord is preparing for a Stem Cell Transplant.
It’s been a long journey so far but has only just begun.
On Jan. 22nd a CT scan revealed
compressed and broken vertebrae’s in his back and spine with cancer in the bones.
Gord was always strong and active with horses, farm chores and a Kenora known heavy truck driver for 51 years until this December where he had to stop working due to un-manageable back pain.
He was airlifted on Jan 26 to Thunder Bay where all the tests, scans and bone marrow biopsy confirmed a very advanced Multiple Myeloma (blood/bone cancer)with widespread lytic lesions, including multiple compression fractures on his spine. A large mass on the T5-6 vertebrae with some compression on the spinal cord.
He was put in a back brace with
limited movement.
He had radiation and started chemo and flown back to Kenora 3 weeks later. After returning home he went into acute renal failure and spent 2 more weeks admitted to hospital.
He has had 16 Chemo treatments in Kenora and presently in Ottawa preparing for a Stem Cell Transplant. There is no cure for Multiple Myeloma but this could slow it down .
Since this all began Della has also been off work to help Gord. It has been mentally and physically challenging. They have both run out of sick benefits.
So far cancer drugs are covered but flights, accommodations, food, taxi’s, and many other expenses along with bills back home are adding up in a hurry.
As most people in Kenora know, Della was a disc jockey for
many years . She donated her time and music for numerous Benefit Socials over the years to help anyone in need, way before GoFundMe ever existed. Gord hauled her equipment around faithfully not ever thinking that one day they would be the ones in a situation like this.
Gord is the “rock” of their family and has amazing kids, grandkids and many family members to live for.
He is not giving up!
Any help would be so greatly appreciated during these difficult times. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
