Help Demetrius Stay At Howard

Hey y’all, my name is Demetrius Francis, a senior computer information systems major from Norfolk, Virginia. I’m a first generation college student who was blessed to have been able attend Howard University on a full-ride for my first two years with the capstone scholarship. I enjoyed some of the best years of my life, learning about myself and others and gaining confidence all along the way. I was extremely grateful to have been blessed with an opportunity to make a much better life for myself after an impoverished upbringing. Unfortunately between a few mental and financial hardships, and changing my major from computer science, I lost my scholarship due to keeping a 3.1 GPA instead of a 3.3. I was blessed to be able to receive two free years of school and while my family couldn’t help me financially, thankfully I was approved for two loans with no co-signer nor credit check to pay my tuition through my third year. After being selected for the verification process this year, my grants to help pay for school haven’t been dispersed, in addition to my inability to find a loan this fall that didn’t require a co-signer, resulting in my fall 2020 balance of over $14,000.


I hope to pay this off with this gofundme to remove my financial hold and register for the spring 2021 semester. I’ve been improving my credit and working part-time in order to apply for another loan in the spring and get me one step closer to graduation. I’m in need of support, prayers and blessings in continuing my academic matriculation, graduating from the best HBCU and achieving my dreams of being an animator.
