Breast Cancer Sucks

Donation protected
You have breast cancer. Not the words you think you are going to hear at 30 years old. Okay, so what? Get it removed and that's it? No. You have Her2 breast cancer. This means that the cancer is more aggressive and you're going to have to do chemo for a whole year. Oh, and it will put you into early menopause because chemo destroys your eggs. Hope you've already had all of the children you ever wanted! - Okay this is not exactly what the doctor said but it is what it felt like while we were sitting in that room, getting the news that my twin sister Demi was about to have the worst year of her life.

For those of you who know my twin, Demi, you know that she is an incredible person. There is no one like her in this world. She makes the world brighter just by being a part of it. So when she found out today that she had breast cancer, she was shocked. She has to make a decision between cutting out part of her breast or getting the whole thing cut off. A huge whirlwind of emotions, right? If that wasn't bad enough, the doctor then told her that because of a random protein that just decided to be turned 'on' that she will have to undergo a WHOLE YEAR of chemotherapy. That's 4-6 hours every session. Once a week (at first). Then every 3 weeks. For. A. Year.

Demi was so strong through hearing all of this. She was prepared to fight. She was calm. But then, the doctor dropped the news that this treatment, although saving her life, would take away the one thing that she's always wanted - a baby. By undergoing chemo, it would virtually destroy her eggs and send her into early menopause. At 30. Demi was devastated. She is working so so so hard to make a beautiful life for a baby to come in to. She's always wanted kids.

So it comes down to freezing her eggs before undergoing chemo. This would hopefully preserve enough eggs that she could have a baby of her own one day.

However, it's expensive, as with all fertility procedures. This whole process is going to be ridiculously expensive. But this GoFundMe is about something that can help provide Demi hope. She can know that there are some really amazing future possibilities. This can keep her fighting, hard. So please, if you have some time, please reach out to her and maybe give a "How are doing?" or a "You're strong!", because that will help show her that she can do this. She's beautiful. She's kind. She's loved. And she can have a baby. Because she's going to win this.
